About the Place:
El Morro is a dry, rocky and dusty place, located in the southern extreme of Lima bay. Because of its height (near 300m) in winter receives a lot of humidity making the grip very tight (just few sections with mud) during summer is very dry so trails become very loose and heath is a killer if you plan to ride late.
Is also an historical place, there in the bottom, facing the old valley lived thousands of Inca people, but when the city grew, starting in 1940s practically any old construction was started to be erased. That city was known as Armatambo.
During 1881 it was part of the line of defense of the city of Lima, located around 20Km north. Finally the defense fell under the Chilean army.
From 40 years the surrounding lands were taken by people building ilegal houses in ilegal properties, but as time passed, thanks to politicians they turned legal. That´s a big issue, the land turned dangerous and a few years ago a movement named Todos por el Morro (TxM) became leaders (basically with fundraising) building trails and recovering safety, now hundreds of riders enjoy everyday the place, anyway is not 24/7 safe but is the best place to do a short ride without leaving the city.
Rides available for one rider only by the moment.
